EDAI’s Published Paper on CDIAP Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Marta Arranz, a social worker at EDAI during COVID, Leticia Asenjo, Director of EDAI, Jesús Molina, psychotherapist at EDAI, and Thais Rosal, former EDAI neuropsychologist, wrote a scientific article about the care received and the perceptions of families at EDAI’s CDIAPs during the pandemic. The article has been published in Interdisciplinaria, Revista de Psicología y Ciencias Afines.

This study, titled Perceptions of the Care Received by Families Attending Early Intervention Services in Barcelona During COVID”, analyzes how early intervention services adapted during the lockdown period, focusing on research conducted at two of our centers in Barcelona: CDIAP EDAI Les Corts-Sarrià and CDIAP EDAI Sant Martí. The study captures the perceptions of 186 families regarding the quality of telematic interventions during the health crisis.

The results show that the lockdown had a significant emotional impact on both children and their families, with symptoms such as irritability, stress, and parenting difficulties. Despite the challenges, care was maintained in over 90% of cases. Families rated telematic care very positively, emphasizing that this approach ensured the continuity of interventions and provided support that significantly reduced feelings of loneliness thanks to the professionals’ assistance.

This publication is a significant contribution to the field of early intervention, demonstrating EDAI’s commitment to the quality and adaptability of our services, even in contexts of great adversity.
