Evaluating to improve: the ROM methodology advances in EDAI’s CDIAPs.

The Early Childhood Development and Early Intervention Centres (CDIAP) of EDAI continue to roll out the Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM) methodology, a continuous, evidence-based evaluation system well established in public health services such as the UK’s NHS.

In the field of early intervention — aimed at children aged 0 to 6 and their families — this approach represents a significant development within public services, as it places outcome evaluation and family participation at the heart of the intervention process, in line with international standards.

The ROM methodology enables continuous monitoring of each child’s progress and allows the intervention to be adjusted according to observed changes, with the aim of improving the quality of care.

During the first quarter of 2026, more than two thirds of the cases seen at EDAI’s CDIAPs already have ROM monitoring in place — a progression that consolidates the shift towards public services that are more transparent, measurable, and centred on shared decision-making with families..
