EDAI promotes Catalan language learning among families at CDIAP EDAI Sant Martí

Throughout 2025 and 2026, the CDIAP EDAI Sant Martí offered a free Catalan language course for adults and families using the service, with the aim of facilitating language learning and encouraging the use of Catalan in everyday life.

This initiative was made possible with the support of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya) and its Department of Language Policy, as part of its efforts to promote knowledge and use of the Catalan language.

The course, taught by Elisenda Solsona, writer and Catalan teacher, was very well received by families. All available places were filled and a waiting list was created, highlighting both the interest in and the need for initiatives of this kind.

Throughout the course, participants had the opportunity to develop and strengthen their Catalan language skills in a welcoming and accessible environment, gaining tools to communicate more independently in contexts related to family, education and community life.

At EDAI, we understand that supporting families goes beyond therapeutic care. Facilitating access to the local language also helps promote autonomy, inclusion and participation in the wider community, while strengthening families’ connections with their surroundings.
